The Roche Coaguchek XS is a portable, battery-powered device for point-of-care testing that measures a patient's blood clotting time to provide an International Normalized Ratio (INR) result in about one minute. It uses a small capillary blood sample from a fingerstick, and the system includes on-board quality control and can store up to 1000 test results. The Coaguchek XS is used for self-monitoring by patients on anticoagulant medications like those with chronic atrial fibrillation or pulmonary embolism.
